Taking Grant Applications
The primary role of the Hickory County Community Improvement Foundation is to establish endowed funds for the purpose of conducting a flexible community grant making program which addresses the most important needs of the community at any one time. The flexibility this requires is made possible by charitable donors who established unrestricted or field -of-interest funds and place the decision making in the hands of the community leaders serving on the Board of Directors.
Grant proposals are accepted and studied by the Community Improvement Coalition and grant recommendations are made as funds are available for distribution. While the Board reserves the right to narrow the focus of community grants in the future, for the current year, grant proposals will be accepted in an open field of interest.
The Community Improvement Foundation has a continuing interest in supporting institutions and projects that provide vital community services, however, the CIF also has an interest in:
- Projects that provide innovative solutions for existing and emerging community needs
- Projects which encourage collaboration between local organizations.
While these are areas of strong interest to the CIF, requests need not be limited to these interests.
Multiple grants may be awarded with total amount of awards not exceeding $3,000.00. The application deadline for this round of grants is April 6, 2009 at 5:00 p.m. Applications received after this time will not be considered.
To apply (download application) send a proposal request explaining how you plan to use funding and what your goals are with the grant. Tell how it will be determined you met your goals. Explain how it will benefit Hickory County and if applicable, please include the number of clients to be served or people who will benefit from this project. If other funding is helping with the proposed goals tell how it is being supported. If there isn’t other funding that is helping with the project what method will be used to continue the program or meet the need in the future.
