Programs

The Hickory County Community Improvement Coalition (CIC), a non-profit group made up of concerned local citizens and community leaders, has issued a Strategic Prevention Framework State Incentive Grant (SPF-SIG) in partnership with the Hickory County Health Department to reduce underage and binge drinking in peoples ages 12-25.

Working on the Underage/Binge Drinking Prevention program is:

  • Julie Foster - Project Coordinator
  • Michelle Morris - Project Evaluator
  • Michelle Chapman - Youth Program Manager
  • Karen Nickel - TOP Facilitator
  • Pam Jackson - TOP Facilitator

Also being implemented is an after school program in all four county schools called the Teen Outreach Program (TOP).  It is offered one night per week at each school from 3-6 for 6th and 7th graders.

For our Environmental Strategy, we are using the Those Who Host Lose the Most campaign.  We have three billboards in the county - one on Highway 54 and two on Highway 65. We also have printed literature that we are disseminating.

Each year we try to sponsor Alcohol-Free events. We are in the process of planning a concert.
